Saputo has lifted its voting power in WCB from 17.923pc to 20.141pc

WARRNAMBOOL Cheese and Butter's Canadian suitor, Saputo, has increased its stake in the company to just over 20 per cent, making it the company's single biggest shareholder.

Saputo has lifted its voting power in WCB from 17.92pc to 20.14pc after it snapped up more than 1.2 million shares yesterday.

WCB confirmed the change in substantial holding to the ASX today.

Saputo's final $9-a-share cash offer for WCB, which has been recommended by WCB's board, is scheduled to close on Friday, January 10.

Bega Cheese holds an 18.8pc stake in WCB while Murray Goulburn owns 17.7pc.

WCB shares were trading at $9.14/share at 9.30am AEDT today.
